Sponsored by Scott J. Corwin, A Professional Law Corporation, the scholarship is being offered again in 2019 to students attending (or entering) a California college or university. The scholarship winner will receive a $1,000 award for use toward his or her college tuition and/or fees.
The format
The scholarship will be presented to the winner of an essay contest. Essays will be judged on several criteria: strength of argument, grammatical soundness, uniqueness, adherence to topic, supporting evidence, and overall writing skill.
The topic
Here at Scott J. Corwin, A Professional Law Corporation we work with people who overcome great adversity after a bad accident or injury. How has adversity shaped your life? Explain why the adversity you faced and overcame in the past will help you succeed in your next step towards gaining a degree in higher education.
Submission deadline
The deadline for essay submissions is April 30th, 2019.
Eligibility of applicants
This scholarship is reserved for college or university students entering or currently attending a California institution of higher education. Students entering or continuing any 2-year or 4-year undergraduate program in Fall 2018 or Fall 2019 are eligible for the scholarship. Applicants must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.
Prize distribution
The $1000 award will be paid directly to the winner's school's bursar's office or other eligible entity when necessary.
Review of applications and selection of winner
The law firm's attorney and staff will review applications to determine a scholarship winner. The winner will be selected and notified by June 30th, 2019.
