Popular mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Sean Strickland faces a long recovery after he was struck by a motorist as he was riding his motorcycle in Los Angeles on the evening on Dec. 15. He was heading back to his area home from a workout at King’s MMA when the crash occurred.
On an Instagram post, Strickland said he had been traveling approximately 45 miles per hour when a speeding motorist turned into his path, crashing into him.
The impact of the crash caused him to be knocked unconscious. Paramedics who responded to the scene rushed him, unresponsive, to an area hospital. Once he arrived there, doctors performed emergency surgery on one of his knees. He awoke three hours later unaware of what had occurred or why he was there.
Pictures posted by the MMA fighter the day after his surgery show him lying down immobilized in a hospital bed. He is wearing a neck brace.
In a social media message to his fans, Strickland mentioned that he doesn’t plan to let his crash derail him from continuing to pursue his passion for fighting. He also says that he expects for it to take at least three months for him to recover from his injuries.
Motorcycle crashes that occur at Los Angeles intersections often result in the most catastrophic injuries or fatalities of all types of accidents.
Victims are often left with staggering medical bills for surgeries, lengthy hospital stays and rehabilitation. They also stand to lose significant pay during this time. An experienced attorney can advise you of your rights to recover compensation if you were involved in a motorcycle crash.
